Mrs. Hattie Charlene White McCollum, age 89, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, with her family by her side.
Mrs. McCollum was born in Floyd County, Georgia on January 20, 1934, daughter of the late John Clever White and the late Iva Chambers White. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Emory McCollum, and by two sisters, June Allen and Betty White. Mrs. McCollum was a graduate of Armuchee High School where she excelled in basketball. Prior to retirement, she was a rural letter carrier for the USPS. Mrs. McCollum was a member of the Armuchee Southern Methodist Church. She loved flowers and working in her yard and was part of a bowling league for many years. Mrs. McCollum was an avid animal lover, especially her most precious pet, Callie.
Survivors include five children, Vickie Dorsey (Randy), Mike McCollum, Tony McCollum (Patricia), Tim McCollum (Mary), and Tammy Cox (Ken); 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Charles White; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at 11am in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with her son-in-law, Rev. Ken Cox, officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Wednesday from 5 until 7pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Thursday at 10:30am and include Tony McCollum, Tim McCollum, Felix Monterrosa, Lee Dorsey, George Whittle, and Thomas Cox. Honorary: Grandsons
