Mr. Michael Chad Byrd, age 41, of Rome

Mr. Michael Chad Byrd, age 41, of Rome, GA, passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at his residence.

                Chad was born in Rome, GA, on March 11, 1982, son of the late Brian Daniel Byrd, Sr., and the late Theresa Darlene Garrett Byrd.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Brian Daniel Byrd, Jr.  Mr. Byrd graduated from Pepperell High School, Class of 2000.  Most recently he served as a deputy with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Department, formerly he worked with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy in the Floyd County Prison and the Floyd County Jail.  Chad loved gaming, especially playing online on his computer.  He was of the Baptist faith.

                Survivors include his wife, Melody Ann Byrd, to whom he was married on February 28, 2009; a sister, Stephanie Self (Dean); his stepmother, Ellen Byrd; a nephew and niece, Micah Daniel Byrd and Emmalee Ann Self; his mother-in-law, Denise Brooks; his beloved cat, Tammy Snacks “Tam Tam”; and numerous other family member who he loved dearly.

                In accordance with his wishes, Chad will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
