Linda Carol Dodson, age 71, of Rome, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023, surrounded by her loving husband that was always by her side, and by her nieces, nephews, and grandkids. Her family is deeply saddened by her death.
Mrs. Dodson was born in Rome, Georgia on January 30, 1952, daughter of the late Curtis D.J. Locklear and the late Margaret Frances Henderson Locklear. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Steven Griffith, Jr., by grandparents, Ben & Lula Locklear and Andrew & Beulah Henderson, by four brothers, Raymond Douglas Locklear, James Lamar Locklear, Benjamin Andrew Locklear, and Austin Eugene Locklear, Sr., and by a sister, Susan Annette Williams. She was the matriarch of the family and always loved to get family and friends together either for a reunion or a cookout. It didn’t matter as long as there was a gathering. Family knew when you joined her life by what name you called her, Carol was her younger years and Linda was her adult years.
She was a fun, spirited, feisty soul who loved her family and friends. Her smile was so stunning, it would light the whole room. She always loved to laugh and touched so many lives. To meet her was to love her, and she never met a stranger. She loved Elvis and her canine companions, Roxy, Susie, Little Bit, and Chancy, were very dear to her and she kept their ashes with her. Above all, she loved her Lord and was of the Holliness faith. She had lived in several different states, loved to travel, and was always ready for her next adventure.
All of her nieces, nephews, and grandkids thought she hung the moon. She was the glue that held them together. They believed she was immortal and would live forever, which she will in their hearts.
Survivors include her devoted husband, David Evans Dodson, to whom she was married on July 15, 1999; a son, Scottie Lee Sullins; five grandchildren, Ashley Millsap, William Steven “Billy” Griffith, Tyler Scott Griffith, Haley Nicole Sullins (Amber), and Megan Marie Sullins; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 12 noon in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with Justin Millsap and the Rev. Jackson Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
