Mrs. Mary Lou Allen, age 88, of Rome

Mrs. Mary Lou Allen, age 88, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at a local hospital.

                Mrs. Allen was born in Floyd County, Georgia on May 11, 1935, daughter of the late Jewell Thomas Heath and the late Mattie Bell Peace Heath.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sidney Allen, by two grandchildren, and by three sisters, Reba Garmin, Mildren Riley, and Jenny Shelton.  Mrs. Allen was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed painting.  She worked for several years in the textile industry at Klopman Mills and Trend Mills.

                Survivors include three children, Marilyn Pyles, Dennis Gregory Allen, and Timothy Allen; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 5 great -great grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Martin; several nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Greg Allen officiating.  Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

                The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Tuesday from 12 until 1:45pm.
