Mrs. Martha Gail Eaves, age 78, of Rome

Mrs. Martha Gail Eaves, age 78, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at her daughter’s residence surrounded by her family.

                Ms. Eaves was born in Centre, AL, on November 16, 1944, daughter of the late William Warren “Eddie” Cromer and the late Willie Sue Davis Cromer.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Keith Barwick, and by 6 siblings.  Before her retirement, Mrs. Eaves worked as a meat wrapper and butcher at Kroger for over 20 years.  She loved her family deeply and loved the life her and Tommy created.  Mrs. Eaves loved her husband more than anything on this Earth.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a close second. She loved doing any and everything for her family. Mrs. Eaves had a servant’s heart and loved taking care of people. Most importantly, Mrs. Eaves loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

                Survivors include her husband of over 51 years, Tommy Eaves, Rome; 2 children, Melissa Gail Eaves, Lindale, and Thomas Eaves, Rome; 9 grandchildren, Abbie Crabtree (Jamie), Connie Spears (Scotty), Stephanie Cochran (T.J.), Michael Barwick, Jr., Ross Pope, Caitlin Pope, Grayce Eaves, Gage Eaves and Max Eaves; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Ellen Hyde (David), Kenneth Cromer (Melissa) and Howard Cromer; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Clifford Free officiating.  Interment will follow in Floyd Memory Gardens.

                The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12pm until service time at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.  

                Mrs. Eaves grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
