Armuchee High School was locked down for several hours on Tuesday morning following a situation in which a man was threatening suicide on Old Summerville Road.
A release went out to all parents stating, “Due to a situation going on in the vicinity of the AHS campus, law enforcement has advised Armuchee High School to go into a school-wide lockdown. Floyd County Schools has stated that all students and staff are safe.”
According to authorities, the man ran into the woods near his home and officers were unsure if he had any weapons on him or not. After the man was taken into custody the school went out of lockdown.
