Christy Woodfin Carter, age 51, passed away on October 25, 2023. Christy was a beloved wife, a loving mother, a great friend, and terrific daughter and sister. Christy was most known for her gentle presence and sweet spirit. She was a light and a testament of God’s love to everyone she came across. Christy was a retired RN who worked primarily with the geriatric population, mostly working in skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation. Christy had a passion for serving others as caretaker in the community and at home with her family.
Christy is survived by her husband of 28 years, Rickey Carter; her daughter and son-in-law, Payton Carter Evans and Cameron Evans; and her son, Randon Carter. Christy’s pride and joy in life came through the accomplishments of her children. Christy loved to spend the majority of her time soaking up the sun, supporting her children, and at the ball fields. Her happiest moments were spent with her husband and kids.
Christy is preceded in death by her father, Dwight Woodfin, her mother, Ilene Ransom Woodfin, her brother, Kevin Woodfin, as well as her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Christy served a life for the Lord and her family. She always put others’ needs before her own. She exemplified the love and grace of Jesus Christ until her last breath. A memorial service for Christy will be held at 6:00pm on Friday, October 27, 2023, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3:00pm until service time at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America and/or the American Cancer Society.
