Mr. Phil Stanley Storey, Sr., age 70, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at a local hospital.
Mr. Storey was born in Floyd County, GA, on August 18, 1953, son of the late John Davis “Skinny” Storey and the late Perlie Mae Highfield Storey. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, John L. Storey and James Davis Storey, and a sister, Willie Fisher. Mr. Storey was a self-employed siding installer in the summers and worked in various textile mills during the winter. He was a family man first and foremost and was the glue that held them together. Mr. Storey’s great-grandchildren were the light of his life and he always made sure their needs and wants were taken care of. He loved his garden and any work that went along with it. Mr. Storey was also the self-appointed “neighborhood watch”, constantly sitting on the porch and surveying the neighborhood. He was a man that was very set in his ways, telling his family dish soap was better than any bodywash on the market. Mr. Storey was a God-fearing man who is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior.
Survivors include his son, Phil Stanley Storey, Jr., Rome; 2 granddaughters, Savannah Storey (Lane), Cave Spring, and Haylee Storey, Rome; 4 great-grandchildren, Kylie Pryor, Isaih Storey, Paislee Storey and Kehlani Storey; 3 sisters, Rebecca Vinson, Watha Barton and Debbie Ashley; 1 brother, Danny F. Storey; his best friend, Jane Tillery; a host of nieces, nephews and adopted grandchildren he would do anything for.
