Samuel Lee Creswell, 34 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he threatened to shoot a police officer that had taken him into custody for DUI.

Reports said that the events started when officers noticed that Creswell was failing to maintain his lane and driving on the wrong side of the roadway.

When officers stopped Creswell they saw an open container of alcohol within reach.

After determining Creswell was driving under the influence of alcohol, he refused to comply with officers by not getting into the patrol car.

During transport, Creswell reportedly told the officer that he was going to buy a gun and shot him.

Creswell is charged with terroristic threats and acts, obstruction, DUI, open container, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and parole violation.
