James William Whitaker Jr, 70 of Rome, was arrested this week after he allegedly stalked a 49 year-old woman before breaking into her home and setting her home on fire.
Reports said that Whitaker violated a court order to stay away from the victim when he went to her home on Harris Road and stole two boxes of belongings. He then proceeded to set two different rooms in the home on fire.
Whitaker is charged with first degree burglary, criminal damage to property, arson in the first degree, aggravated stalking and probation violation.
