Mr. Wayne Tyrone “Butch” Minshew, age 80, of Shannon, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2023, at his residence.
Mr. Minshew was born in Floyd County, Georgia on August 16, 1942, son of the late Rev. Boyd Frank Minshew and the late Dorothy Ailene Witt Minshew. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alma Jean Cagle Minshew, and by two sons-in-law, Garry Luke Davis, Sr. and Marvin “Orlando” Price. Mr. Minshew was a member of Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, he was a maintenance supervisor for Calhoun Health Care. Mr. Minshew loved camping and wrestling. He promoted wrestling for several years and was inducted to the North Georgia Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2021. Mr. Minshew’s greatest love was spending time with his family.
Survivors include a son, William Michael Minshew (Judy); four daughters, Dottie Cook (Joe), Debra Davis, Kim Stone (Stacy), and Michelle Harris (Tony); grandchildren, Luke Davis, Kyle Davis, Jessica Holder (Zane), Zachary Stone (Salisa), Tatiana Lopez (Christian), Tamyrra Price (Tyler Wells), Abral Wilson-Thrasher (Josh), Joshua Cook (Desalee), and Jessica Willingham; great grandchildren, Chelsey Davis, Isaak Lopez, Hunter Cook, Reed Cook, Chloe Willingham, and Lynton Wells; a brother, John E. Minshew (Janneal); nieces & nephews; his canine companions, Sassy & Cross.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 2pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Marvin Jackson and the Rev. Barry McCullough officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Wednesday from 12noon until 1:45pm.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Wednesday at 1:30pm and include, Active: Zach Stone, Zane Holder, Josh Cook, Christian Lopez, Luke Davis, and Kyle Davis. Honorary: Josh Thrasher and Tyler Wells.
