Mr. James Michael “Mike” Smith, age 71, of Rome

Mr. James Michael “Mike” Smith, age 71, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at a local hospital.

                Mr. Smith was born in Rome, Georgia on April 2, 1952, son of the late S. J. Smith and the late Mary Lynn Frazier Smith.  He was also preceded in death by a son, Chris Smith, and by a brother, Les Smith.  Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U. S. Army.  He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the American Legion and the Sons of the Confederacy.  Mr. Smith worked for several years for State Mutual.

                Survivors include his wife, Glenda Faye Towe Harris Smith; a son, Jeremy Smith; stepchildren, Tammy Payne, Diane Durham, Lisa Croy, and George Harris; grandchildren, Colton Smith, Sarah Croy, Jacob Croy, and David Fain; nieces and nephews.

                Graveside service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 4pm at Floyd Memory Gardens.  The American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard will present military honors.
