Rev. Jason Gary Willis, age 48, of Cave Spring, GA passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at his residence.
Jason was born January 10, 1975, in Rome, GA, son of Dr. Gary Eugene Willis and Carolyn Colston Willis. He was a 1993 graduate of Coosa High School, he also studied at Shorter College, and Covington Theological Seminary where he earned his master’s degree in Theology. He was the Founder and Director of 2:10 Ministries in Isla Mujeres, Mexico. Jason was also instrumental in establishing local outreach ministries in and around Floyd County and Northwest Georgia. He pastored at Live Oak Baptist Church, Town Creek Baptist Church, Lakeview Baptist Church and most recently at Oak Hill Methodist Church.
Jason was passionate about hunting, fishing, cooking, grilling, music, Georgia Football (he witnessed 3 National Championships). He loved Little Debbie’s, Mexican Coke’s, banana-less pudding, and chocolate cake. Jason was an amazing father, husband, son, mentor, uncle, pastor, and friend. He was a “hands-on” Dad and very involved in his children’s activities. He welcomed everyone with open arms and helped any way he could. Jason had the love of God running through his veins. He, along with God, taught each of us to be selfless, loving, brave and CONFIDENT, but most of all he taught us to “Live your dash!”
In addition to his parents, Rev. Willis is survived by his wife, Tonia Cox Willis; his children, Maverick Willis, Rocco Willis, Mckena Schrader, and Grason Schrader; his sister, Tonya Taylor(Ben); his niece, Sydney Taylor; and his nephew Drew Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 6, 2023, at West Rome Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Jennings, Rev. Jarrod Roberts, Rev. David Harper and Rev. Jason Stockton officiating. Interment will follow in Cave Spring Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 11:00 am until the hour of service.
Pallbearers are asked to assemble at the church on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 1:30pm and include: Tyler Boss, Josh Carr, Rick Brown, Nick Wade, Kirk Jarrett, and Jeremy Ray.
In lieu of flowers, Jason has requested donations be made to, 2:10 Ministries, c/o Rick Jennings, 9227 US Hwy 411 N, Centre, AL 35960.
