Rick Stephens, age 67, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

                Rick was born in Rome, Georgia on December 21, 1955, son of the late Donald L. “Pug” Stephens and the late Jessie Vasser Stephens.  He was also preceded in death by 4 sisters, 3 brothers, and his former partner, Terry H. Cambron.  He was a life-long resident of Floyd County and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  Rick was a graduate of West Rome High School Class of 1973. He retired from Floyd Medical Center after 20 years of service and also worked at Redmond Regional Medical Center in the surgery department as a O.R. Tech while attending Coosa Valley Tech.  Rick served as President of the Board of Directors of the Aids Resource Council.  He also worked on a committee with the Department of Human Resources to implement the first free standing HIV and Aids Clinic in Rome.  Rick was an avid gardener.  His home and gardens with Mark were his passion.  He loved music and decorating, as well as doing weddings for his friends.  He was a true friend to all who knew him.

                Survivors include his partner of 26 years, Mark W. Lashley; a sister, Kathy Stephens Jones; many nieces and nephews, as well as numerus cousins, aunts, and a blessing of friends.

                Graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11am at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.  The Rev. Greg Cater will officiate.
