Mrs. Sandra Sue Phillips Duvall, age 83, or Rome, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at a local healthcare facility.

Mrs. Duvall was born in Rome on June 5, 1939, daughter of the late Ralph Phillips and the late Sara Slaughter Phillips. She attended Mt. Alto Baptist Church. She retired from the State of Georgia after twenty-seven years of service. Her boss thought she was kidding when she turned in her retirement notice on April 1, 2000, but she assured him with a big smile on her face that it was no joke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Lynda McKenzie and Ann Greer.

Sandra was full of life and joy in whatever she was doing. At church she was always an enthusiastic member whether it was singing or teaching or just having fun. She loved her Rome Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. She loved music, especially the 50’s and 60’s, and dancing.

She is survived by her children, Melanie Brock, Joe Duvall (Lisa) and Aimee McGinnis (Jody); her longtime companion, friend and caregiver, Randy Van Horn; her grandchildren, Courtney Thom (Anthony), Chase Duvall (Julianna), Rebecca Duvall, Tracy McGinnis (Lori), Cody McGinnis; and her great grandchildren, Abree McMordie, Dylan Garrett, and Joelle Holdridge.
