Chattooga County businessman William Benefield is going to put his touch on an iconic former restaurant in Rome. Mr. Benefield has purchased the former Partridge Restaurant on Broad Street and told WZQZ News that he plans to reopen the place as a venue.
Benefield has revitalized several buildings in downtown Summerville and has plans to do more. The most recent was the former auto parts store on Economy Street that is now Beavers Garage. Benefield also has revitalized the corner of Georgia Avenue and Commerce Street at the site of the former Downs Apartments that now house a boutique, a hair salon and a bakery. Benefield told WZQZ that the finishing touches are going on the apartments located above the businesses at that location.
The Partridge Restaurant was the Gordon Theater on Broad Street before it became a restaurant and Benefield says traces of the buildings former purpose are still being found as renovation is ongoing.
Benefield’s vision for the former Partridge Restaurant is to showcase the historic buildings interior and have the place available to rent as an event venue. A new Facebook page for the venue can be found HERE
