Mr. Donald Farrell Satcher, age 80, of Rome, GA, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at his residence.

                Mr. Satcher was born in Rome, GA, on December 5, 1941, son of the late Samuel Arthur Satcher, Sr. and the late Essie Wills Satcher.  He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillie Mae Charles Satcher, to whom he was married on August 5, 1962, by 4 sisters, Bernice Broome, Ruth Corntassel, Glenda “Polly” Chastain and Shirley Satcher, and by 2 brothers, James Alton Satcher, Sr., and Samuel Arthur Satcher, Jr. 

                Mr. Satcher was a graduate of Pepperell High School.  He retired from the City of Rome Cemetery Department where he spent 25 years as the Cemetery Superintendent.  Previously, Mr. Satcher spent many years working for Jennings Funeral Home as a licensed funeral director and embalmer.  He was a member of the Lindale Masonic Lodge # 848 F & AM, where he recently was awarded for over 50 years of membership.  Mr. Satcher was also a member of the Floyd County Cattlemen’s association.  He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Satcher loved nothing more than to work on the farm and was an avid opossum and bird hunter.

                Survivors include his 2 daughters, Donna Griesemer (Daniel), Rome, and Dawn Satcher Barnes, Rome; 4 granddaughters, Danielle Griesemer Hall (Matt), Jasmine Griesemer, Brinsly Barnes and Linly Barnes; numerous nieces and nephews.

                A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday, November 25, 2022, in East View Cemetery. The Rev. Billy Fricks will officiate and Masonic rites will be performed by Lindale Lodge # 848 F & AM.

                Flowers are accepted or memorial donations can be made to either Heyman Hospicecare @ Floyd, or the Kidney Cancer Association.
