Mr. Richard D. Hastings, age 76, of Silver Creek, GA, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at his residence.

                Mr. Hastings was born on July 31, 1945, in Ft. Payne, AL, son of the late Wiley McDaniel Hastings and the late Georgia Aileen Hawkins Hastings.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Hastings Scott, and by his brother, Tony Hastings.  Mr. Hastings was a 1963 graduate of Coosa High School.  He was a repairman for Singer Sewing Machines and was also the manager of their Athens, GA, store for many years.  Mr. Hastings was an insurance agent in Rome for various companies before his retirement.  He loves classic cars and was a “gear head” who loved not only the mechanical workings but also the art of car body work.  Mr. Hastings was past president of the “Gold Wing Road Rider Association” of Rome.  He loved fishing, hunting and cooking.  Mr. Hastings was known to frequent flea markets and could haggle his way to the best price possible for what he wanted.

                Survivors include his wife, Janice Astin Hastings, Silver Creek, to whom he was married on May 13, 1978; 2 daughters, Patti Kean (Tad), Cedartown, and Juli Brandon (Tim), Bonaire; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas Kean, Austin Worthey, Jordan Worthey, Casey Kean and Anna Grace Brandon; 3 great-grandchildren, Eli Worthey, Grant Worthey and Abigail Worthey; his son-in-law, Dan Scott; his sister, Teresa Hastings Stephens (Craig); nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with the Rev. Bud Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Cedartown.

                The family will receive friends from 10am until 11am on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

                Pallbearers are to assemble by 10:30am on Wednesday at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, and include:  Nicholas Kean, Austin Worthey, Jordan Worthey, Casey Kean, Mike Hastings, Tad Kean and Dan Scott.
