Mrs. Kayne Jeanette Carter, age 82, of Rome, passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022, at her residence.

Mrs. Carter was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee on August 16, 1939, daughter of the late Charles Hoge and the late Susie Thompson Hoge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William Kenneth Carter; her brothers, Charles Dennison Hoge and Edward Dwaine Hoge; her sister, Charlene Hoge; and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Lacey Culberson.

Kayne is remembered for her acts of service, gratitude, and love. God’s daily blessings never went unnoticed by Kayne. Kayne shared moments of joy and appreciation every day, particularly for her family and her friend group of 50 years. She connected with people through acts of service with Fellowship Baptist Church and West Rome Baptist Church where she volunteered with the Women’s Missionary Union and the Children’s Ministry. Kayne observed God’s beauty through nature by watching the hummingbirds, feeding the ducks, and camping with family. She enjoyed family activities, cooking, traveling, baseball games, nature walks and bowling.

She is survived by children, Theresa Ann Culberson (Rusty) of Adairsville, William Lee Carter (Mary) of Rome, Brenda Holliday of Rome, and Kim Carver of Rome; and 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at 2:00pm in the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Brady Fortenberry officiating. Interment will follow in Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, from 12:00pm until the service time.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, on Thursday at 1:30pm and include: Ty Jones, Glenn Mitchell, Jake Carter, Brandon Lance, Richard Holliday and Cohen Sprayberry.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Renovation Fund or Vanderbilt Huntington Research Fund.
