Herbert Wayne Levasseur, 46 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he imprisoned a woman and then beat her while she lay on the ground.

Police said that Levasseur held the woman against her will as he placed his hands around her neck, causing her to be unable to breathe.  He is then accused of slapping and punching her in the face.  The victim suffered bruising and scratches from the attack.

Leasseur is charged with aggravated assault, false imprisonment, battery, DUI, driving without insurance and failure to obey control devices.
