A 26 year-old Centre man, Alexander Preston Brown, was arrested in Rome this week after reports said he ran from police after wrecking in Cave Spring, leaving his injured girlfriend behind.

Police said that Brown was driving at speeds of over 80 mph when he ran attempted to flee from police.  Brown eventually hit a tree, leaving his girlfriend, who was a passenger, injured. Reports added that the woman suffered a broken right femur.

Brown then ran away on foot in an effort to avoid being captured.

He is charged with too fast for conditions, driving an unregistered vehicle, failure to maintain lane, attempting to elude police, obstruction, hit and run and serious injury by vehicle.
