Mr. William Porter “Bill” Arnold, age 80, of Rome, GA, passed away Friday morning, February 4, 2022, at his residence.

                Mr. Arnold was born in Atlanta, GA on March 3, 1941, son of the late Melvin Maurice Arnold and the late Frances Elnora Porter Arnold.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Michael Todd Arnold, and by his brother, David Melvin Arnold.

              Mr. Arnold was a graduate of Russell High School in East Point, GA, where he excelled in track and football, receiving several offers to play football in college.  Mr. Arnold was a veteran of the United States Army.  Prior to his retiring, he was a structural steel detailer and owned and operated BAGCO (Bill Arnold Graphics Company).  Upon his retirement and because of his love for people, he served as a host at Rome Dwarf House for several years.  Over the years, he traveled to several countries, on 11 mission trips. He was an ordained deacon, always active in church. Most recently, he was a member of Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church and the Prayer and Praise Sunday School class.

                Survivors include his wife, the former Sheri Annette Yongue, to whom he was married on December 7, 1962; his daughter, Michele Hester (Daniel), Rome; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly, Jeffrey, Sabra Hester, Rome, and William Hester, Rome; nieces and nephews.

                Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 2pm at Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church with Dr. Philip May, the Rev. Allen Mayes, Dr. Larry Connor, and Brother Brent Moody officiating. 

                The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Friday from 5 until 7pm.
