Isaiah Lee Alford, 43 of Salem, Alabama, was arrested this week after police said he led them on a chase after he allegedly stole 20 items from Big Lots in Rome.
Reports said that Alford allegedly placed numerous items inside a suitcase and walk out of the store without paying. Officers went on to say that when they approached Alford he fled on foot in an attempt to escape.
Police added that Alford jumped a fence and was later found hiding under a home on Larkspur Lane.
The amount of items totaled $501.10.
Alford is charged with felony theft by shoplifting, obstruction and criminal trespass.
