Floyd County Superior Court Chief Judge Jack Niedrach sentenced 54 year-old Dustin Lee Dowdy, of Rockmart, to life in prison after being convicted of molesting a developmentally disabled child.

Reports said that the molestation occurred over the course of years.  

Floyd County Assistant District Attorney Leah Mayo said that Dowdy targeted numerous children in his care, often from his own family.

Dowdy attempted to rebut evidence against him and was quoted to say “No good deed goes unpunished”.

Dowdy will have to serve 30 years in prison before being considered for parole.

Dowdy also has similar pending charges in Polk County.

Dustin Lee Dowdy, 52 of Rockmart, was jailed in Rome this week after reports said he molestated a child under the age of ten from January 2016 until April of 2017.

Reports stated that Dowdy would do indecent and immoral acts, including sexual intercourse, to and in the presence of the child at a home on Honey Tree Trail in Rome.

Reports added that Dowdy forced the victim to masturbate until he climaxed.

Dowdy is charged with rape, child molestation.
