A Piedmont man has been arrested for certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia according to Sheriff Jonathan Horton.

Ricky Lee Pierce, 34, of Piedmont, is charged with certain persons forbidden for possessing two handguns in his vehicle while knowingly being previously charged with violent felonies, Investigator Will Farley said. 

Pierce was a person of interest in an ongoing investigation when Sheriff’s Investigators and Officers with Hokes Bluff Police found him at a residence on Hwy 278 East.

Pierce admitted to the knowledge of the firearms being in his vehicle. Pierce who pled guilty to a previous certain person’s forbidden charge, robbery 3rd and burglary 3rd was being supervised by Calhoun County Probation office for those offenses that are all considered violent felonies. 

Pierce has also been charged for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana second degree for narcotics that were found in his vehicle. Pierce is being held at the Etowah County Detention Center on a $50,000 surety bond. 

Further charges are pending for another incident that occurred in Etowah County.
