The Ball Corporation announced this week that they have agreed to purchase the North Floyd Industrial Rail Site at the intersection of Ga 53 and 140.
The 109 acres will be home to their $51.8 million 750,000 square foot regional distribution center.
The move will lead to the creation of 70 new full time jobs for the company,
The company will pay $35,000 per acre for the parcel.
Funds will go toward paying off the debt on the site and eliminate the interest payments on the bonds used to purchase the site. Thus far, Floyd County has paid nearly $2 million in interest since they purchased the property.
Ball Corp. will receive a 100% tax abatement for the first year years, 75% abatement the next three years and then a 50% take break from years 7-9 and finally a 25% tax break for year ten.
