The Polk School District announced on Thursday that they will be suspending in-person classes next week.

According to a news release from the system students will be participating in distance learning the week of December 14-18th.

The system said, “Polk School District has been fortunate this semester to report low positive cases though the district. However, due to an expected rise in numbers from the Thanksgiving break and an increase in quarantine numbers affecting our employees, we are experiencing difficulty securing enough substitutes to property provide coverage for classrooms.”

Employees will continue to report to work.

Middle and High School students should refer to their teacher’s websites for assignment and final exam information.

Elementary students will bring home an instructional packet to complete and return on January 5, 2021.
