Corey Jose July, 29 of Rome, was arrested this week after hitting another car while trying to avoid arrest during a high speed chase down Turner McCall Blvd.

 Police stated that July hit a vehicle at the intersection of Hicks Drive and Turner McCall while engaged in a police chase.

Authorities went on to report that during the chase July drove erratically while changing lanes, disregarding stop signs and red lights all while driving at speeds up to 110 miles per hour.

A rundown of the chase is as follows: striking the vehicle on Hicks Drive, erratically changing lanes on Ga 20 at Nichols Road, Hine Road, Tuckawana Drive, Chulio Road, East 8th  Street and Ga 293.  He is also accused of traveling 110 miles per hour on Ga 20 near Hine Road and 85 miles per hour down GA 101 near East 17th Street. Additionally, he ran red lights on Ga 20 at the Loop, North 5th Ave and 2nd Avenue.  The chase also saw him running a stop sign on Ga 20 at Ga 101, and driving on the wrong side the of road on Ga 20 at Avenue A.

Police went on to state that the initial traffic stop was for a window tint violation

July is charged with aggravated assault, hit and run, reckless driving, attempting to elude police, driving on a suspend license, three counts aggressive driving, two counts speeding, driving on wrong side of the roadway, three counts central lane driving, four counts failure to obey traffic control devices, stop sign violation, five counts improper lane change, window tint violation and two counts obstruction.
