William Eric Scoggins, 45 of Summerville, was arrested in Rome after he allegedly wrote a check for $1,183.21 and then cash it after already receiving the money electronically.
The incident occurred at the Hop N Shop on Calhoun Avenue.
Scoggins is charged with theft by taking and a seat belt violation.
