Charles Preston Vasser, 48 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found inside a home that was not his.
Reports said that when the home owner confronted Vasser he told them that he was looking for his dog before walking back outside on the front porch.
Vasser told police that he was searching for his missing poodle and that he knocked before entering the home though the back door.
Vasser is charged with first degree burglary.
