Cedartown High School announced this week that they have cancelled their opening game against Carrollton.

Assistant Superintendent Greg Teems said that the cancelled game comes following numerous cases of COVID-19 that were reported among the football squad.

He explained that the players have already been placed in quarantine, and that they’ll remain there until the 14 day period is up, but Georgia High School Athletic Association rules require an acclimation period before players can suit back up in helmets and full pads and be ready to play again.

The season opening game for the Bulldogs will now be against Rockmart on the road on Sept. 11.
