Authorities have arrested a man that they believe is responsible for the robbery of several CVS Pharmacies across Northwest Georgia – including the CVS Pharmacy in Summerville.
Twenty-six-year-old Anthony Lavell Williams of Rome was arrested at his home in Floyd County after Carollton Police linked him to a car used in an armed robbery on July 5th.
Williams was accused of robbing a Walgreens store in Carollton earlier this month. In that robbery, Williams is accused of forcing an employee back into the store at gunpoint, just before closing at 11 PM. According to the incident report, he forced an employee back into the store at gunpoint just before closing time at 11:00 PM, then gathered the two employees and four customers and took their cellphones. After herding them into the store’s office, Williams allegedly had the manager open the safe. He took cash from the safe and drugs from the pharmacy, then led all six people to the parking lot, where he had them lie down at a distance from one another before he drove away, according to the incident report.
Though the Williams wore a mask in all the robberies, the car’s license plate helped the police identify Williams as the suspect. Williams is being held without bond at the Carroll County Jail on one count of armed robbery.
Investigators believe that Williams robbed the CVS Pharmacy in Summerville back in May.
Law enforcement expects federal charges to be brought against Williams for the alleged robbery spree across the area.
