Dear Fellow Romans,
I have been thinking a great deal about this campaign and I want to let you, the people of Floyd County, know a little about me and why I am the best candidate for Magistrate Judge.
With the current pandemic, campaigning the usual way has been difficult. No chance for public gatherings for you to get to know me or ask any questions. Therefore, I come to you with this long post to tell you about me. I am here any time to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
I have been working towards this position and waiting for the right time to run for this office for about 11 years. My wife was expecting our first child when this journey began. We have now been married for almost 13 years and have been blessed with two wonderful children.
For the past 18 years I have been involved in many different business endeavors as a small business owner. I buy, sell, and rent many properties here in Floyd County. I have owned a used car lot where I met and worked with many hardworking people of Floyd County. I was able to self-finance many of these people their cars when many other places would not. I currently own a pawn shop. The pawnbroker business has been interesting and exposed me to many different situations and people in our area. It has also introduced me to the average person’s struggles.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity my career path has given me to help many people. With all the businesses I have had, I have also had many dealings with the Magistrate Court. Over the last 10 years I have seen, read, and been told about a steady decline of confidence in our Magistrate Court. That is why I feel now is the best time for me to run for this office.
I am the best candidate for this job and have what it takes to make this courtroom run efficiently and to make sure everyone is judged equally. I also want to bring the constables back to the courtroom. This will help expedite the eviction process and help free our Sheriff’s Office to deal with more pressing matters. I also want to create a friendly work environment that will help eliminate so much turnover in the Magistrate courtroom. Laws are based off common sense and reason and that is what I have.
I consider myself to have honor, integrity, and respect for others. I believe many others agree with this statement and think the Magistrate Court needs a change for the better. My opponent has said to do your “homework” on me. I encourage you to do so. I hope that you will also take the time to do your “homework” on him. Simply googling his name should tell you all you need to know about him. The current Magistrate Judge was appointed this job 10 years ago and has never had to run a campaign to be elected. My opponent wants to make it an issue that I do not have a law degree. The Magistrate Court replaced the Justice of the Peace Court in 1983. Many people will remember Judges Albert Kirby and Glenda Caldwell who served admirably in this position for many years as the State of Georgia has never required a law degree for this position.  Both had reputations for treating everyone who came before the court with respect and dignity and that will also be my intent.
As stated at the beginning, I would rather speak in person rather than this way, so if you want to leave me your number, I would be glad to talk to you person to person as well.
To become the Magistrate Judge of Floyd County would be an honor to serve this community. The election has been rescheduled for June 9th, but that is quickly approaching. I hope that I can earn your vote. Thank you to all who have supported me thus far. It has been an amazing blessing to have this chance to seek this office and I look forward to serving you in the future.
GOD bless all of you and THANK YOU!
