Robert Walker Epps, 29 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he got on top of a woman and attempted to choke her out.
Reports added that Epps then proceeded to hit the woman in the face.
The victim had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Epps is listed as the head wresting coach and assistant football coach at Gordon Central High School
Epps is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
