According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the third suspect in a shooting that took place Monday night in the Kirk’s Grove Community has been captured. Michael A. Gilreath, 54 of Rome, Georgia, was captured Thursday evening after a manhunt in the area of County Road 16. The suspect was transported to the Cherokee County Detention on the charge of attempted murder.

Officers with the Alabama Department of Conservation and deputies with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office today. Both agencies provided tracking K9s to assist.

According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Cherokee county investigators have arrested two suspects in connection with a shooting that occurred at a residence on County Road 22 in the Kirk’s Grove Community. Deputies responded to the call just before 10 PM on Monday night where they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was transported by Redmond EMS to a regional hospital where he has undergone surgery and is in stable condition.

Investigators arrested two suspects on Tuesday afternoon at a residence on Highway 9 in the Ellisville area. Anthony Matthew Gilreath, 29 of Centre, and Stephen Eric Parker, 47 of Lindale, Georgia, were transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of Attempted Murder.

Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators continue to search for a third suspect, Michael A. Gilreath, 54 of Rome, Georgia. He is also wanted for the crime of Attempted Murder. Cherokee County authorities have launched an investigation into a shooting that took place around Monday night in Cherokee County, Alabama.  Reports indicated an altercation between individuals in the area of County Road 22, led to one of the men receiving a gunshot wound to the head.

Reports added that hte victim was  then transported by vehicle to Floyd County to meet emergency personnel at Foster’s Mill Store.

The victim, as of Tuesday morning, was listed in stable condition at a Rome hospital
