The Berry College baseball team’s annual charity game will take place on March 23 to benefit Harbor House — The Northwest Georgia Child Advocacy Center, the team announced on Friday.
The game will take place on Saturday, March 23 beginning at 2:00 p.m. against Oglethorpe University. Harbor House executive director, Joe Costolnick, will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game. Admission is free and donations will be accepted at the game with all funds raised going directly to the Harbor House. All members of the Berry and Rome communities are welcome.
The Vikings baseball team will also be selling shirts for $15 in Berry’s Krannert Student Center on March 18, 20 and 21 to benefit the Harbor House. The team has currently set a $1,500 fundraising goal.
The center serves as a neutral facility at which all sexual abuse cases brought to the attention of the police and the Department of Family and Children’s Services (DFCS) may be evaluated. Harbor House’s mission is to (1) provide a safe and caring place to evaluate a child who may have been abused, (2) to encourage the collaboration of social and legal agencies for the benefit of the child and (3) to at all times lessen the trauma suffered by the child.
