Tyrell Deshun Spencer Sr, 31 of Rome, turned himself in this week after reports said he tried to smuggle close to 43 grams of marijuana into the Floyd County Prison.
Reports said that Spencer concealed three balls of marijuana at the Fielder Recreation Center so that inmates working could find it and take it back to the prison.
Reports added that the balls were placed inside a garbage can in which two inmates, Coreen Devar Collier and Nathaniel Tevine Dawson, were to find them.
Spencer is charged with conspiracy to violate Georgia controlled substance act, distribution or sale of marijuana and items prohibited by an inmate.
