Plans to create a six story multi-purpose development on West Third Street next to the Courtyard by Marriott was unveiled this week by entrepreneur Wayne Robinson.

Robinson said that his six story building that will feature glass and bricks that overlook the Oostanaula River and downtown Rome will come at a price tag of $25 million.

“The District,” will not only feature upscale apartments and condominiums but retail and restaurants.   The upscale apartments will be in the middle, condominiums on the top two floors with retail and restaurants on the ground floor.  Plans call for both two and three bedroom dwellings that range from 1,220 sqft to 1,620 sqft.

Plans to develop the 2.2 acres has been brewing since being approved by city commissioners last June.  Robinson offered $630,000 for the property, but is seeking Tax Allocation District funding to aide with the cost.

He added cost for the homes would like be on a per-square-foot basis and would depend on the TAD funding.

The total TAD funding given will have to be passed through the city’s Redevelopment Committee and then make a recommendation to the Rome City Commission.

Robinson said he’s looking to have it built by the summer of 2021.
