One individual has been arrested on drug related charges in Etowah County, according to Commander Randall Johnson.


Kathleen Agnes SIMS, 62, of Boaz, is charged with Drug Trafficking, Possession of Marijuana 2 nd Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Promoting Prison Contraband.


On February 13, 2019, Etowah County Sheriff’s Deputy Coley McGowan responded to a 911 call regarding an unresponsive driver at Duck Springs Road and Leeth Gap. Deputy McGowan found SIMS, whom appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, behind the wheel of the vehicle. Deputy McGowan found a quantity of oxycodone, a quantity of suspected marijuana, and a quantity of alprazolam during his investigation.

SIMS was arrested and is being held in the Etowah County
Detention Center on a $53,000 bond.

This investigation is still ongoing and the subject could face
additional charges related to the drugs seized.
