Floyd County Police recently introduced their newest officer, Lex.  The K9 officer was purchased and trained thanks to over $33,000 raised from private donors and local companies.
Lex is a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois who is specially trained in apprehension of suspects, search and tracking, as well as drug detection.
He will partner with Sgt. Shea Hovers who got trained from a special K9 school that was also paid for through donations.
Reports aid that less than two weeks since starting to work Hovers and Lex recovered close to  $53,000 of narcotics including 1lb. of meth, 12g of heroin, 11g marijuana and 80g of ecstasy.
