Bartow County deputies were dispatched to a residence at 10 Quail Ridge Drive in Cartersville on Tuesday night at 8:35 in reference to an assault with a weapon.
The complainant stated he went to the residence to pick up his 19-year-old daughter. He said he knocked on the basement door and 18-year-old Jody Hollamon opened the door stating he would drop her off at their residence tomorrow. He claims that Hollamon picked up a large cutting weapon and stated “I’m going to kill you if you don’t leave.” Hollamon allegedly went back into the residence and the complainant called dispatch.
While a deputy was walking up the stairs to the front door, he heard a noise coming from the backyard. A male wearing a black sweatshirt had run and jumped over the fenced backyard going northwest towards Woodhaven Drive. The male fled into the woods and was eventually found lying flat on the ground.
The male identified himself as Jody Hollamon. Hollamon had outstanding November 3rdwarrants: five for aggravated assault with a gun, one for criminal damage to property in the first degree, one for possession of a firearm during commission of certain crimes, and one for cruelty to children in the third degree.
On the afternoon of November 3rd, a blue 2013 Hyundai Sonata carrying five passengers, including a one-year-old girl, was following another vehicle to a music studio nearby to make some rap music when the lead vehicle made a wrong turn into Quail Ridge Drive. When the lead vehicle turned around to exit the neighborhood, the Sonata did the same thing and was hit on the passenger side by three bullets. A 21-year-old man was shot and survived.
One of the passengers saw a light-skinned black male with dreadlocks standing on the corner near a tree raising a handgun and shooting at the car. A deputy said that Jody Hollamon’s mother stated he was the gunman. Several spent shell casings were located in the front yard. WBHF has no information about Hollamon’s whereabouts from November 3rd to his arrest on Tuesday night.
As far Tuesday night, two witnesses corroborated the complainant’s story. Hollamon was arrested and transported to the Bartow County Jail for terroristic threats and acts, obstructing or hindering a law enforcement officer, and the outstanding warrants.
