Mr. Blackmon was born June 14, 1940, in Trion, GA, son of the late Paul Thomas and Grace Lee Hennon Blackmon. He attended East Trion Church of God, and prior to his retirement, worked as a supervisor with Harriett and Henderson.
Mr. Blackmon is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Mitchell and Sonja Blackmon; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Rex McDonald; brothers, Willie Blackmon and Roy Blackmon; sisters, Barbara Steward and Bonnie Bryant; and grandchildren, Mitch Blackmon, Isaac McDonald, and Mary Beu.
Funeral services for Mr. Blackmon will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Shores, Rev. Douglas Lee, and Rev. Gary Howell officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mitch Blackmon, Isaac McDonald, Rusty Maddux, Derry Maddux, Charles Hankins, and Robert Orem. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Chattooga County Senior Center.
Mr. Blackmon will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday.
