Two men have been arrested in the murder of a local Cartersville man.

The Butts County Sheriff’s Investigators identified and arrested two individuals for the murder of 31-year-old Curtis Pitts of Cartersville.

An investigation revealed that neither the victim nor the suspects had any ties to the Butts County community. No names will be released at this time concerning those arrested nor any additional information due to the continuing investigation.

The Butts County Sheriff’s Office requested that the GBI assistance in a death investigation in Butts County of a male found on Highway 36 in Jackson, GA. Preliminary information indicates that there is no connection to the Jackson Glenn Subdivision (where he was found). The deceased was found with multiple gunshot wounds after a 911 call at approximately 6:13 a.m. on Friday. This case is being investigated as a homicide. Where there is further information available, we will update.

The victim of the murder on September 21st in Butts County has been identified as Curtis Author Pitts, a 31-year-old male, from Cartersville. If you have any information pertaining to this murder and/or you had any contact with Curtis Pitts after 1 a.m. on September 21st, you are encouraged to contact Butts County Investigators at 770-775-8216immediately. A cash reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this senseless crime is being offered.
