The Calhoun Council approved a ordiance that will allow microbreweries to open in the downtown area.

The approve gives the go-ahed to Andrew Tierce who is in development of opening Coosa Valley Brewing Company.

Microbreweries will only be allowed to open in the downtown area, which commissioners argeed would allow officals to better monitor the industry.

Coosa Valley Brewing is expected to open on Park Avenue sometime next Spring. Plans are to include 16 taps that include numerous flavors of beer.

Tierce is partnering with Dylan Edwards who will be the brew master.

Calhoun City Attorney George Govignon said the ordinance allows direct sales and distribution of their own packaged product on demand as well consumption on premises and the sale of growlers.
