A inmate at Hays State Prison in Chattooga County, and leader of a the Bloods gang, Gordon Evans, 37, has been convicted of ordering a Lawrenceville man’s murder while incarcerated.
Evans was convicted of three counts of felony murder, two counts of criminal street gang activity and one count each of malice murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and aggravated battery in connection with the death of Jeffrey Anderson.
Anderson was found dead in a Lawrenceville home with two gunshot wounds to the back of his head in November of 2015. Soon after, police discovered a threatening text that was sent to Anderson a month before he was killed; that text was sent with a contraband cell phone by Evans, who was incarcerated at Hays State Prison in Summerville, the DA’s office said.
Evans sent two lower level gang members to kill Anderson.
Evans was sentenced to life in prison, plus 20 years.
