A Centre woman arrested August 11th on several charges – including Financial Exploitation of the Elderly – is now facing additional charges.

Sherri Harkness Dupree, age 49, was arrested Wednesday (August 22nd) and charged with Forgery 3rd Degree.

Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Josh Summerford told WEIS Radio News that an allegation was made that Dupree had been taking money by forging the checks of an elderly person that she was employed to care for, and an investigation was launched by the sheriff’s office.

As a result, Investigator Jordan Kelley placed Dupree under arrest on August 11th, charging her with Financial Exploitation of the Elderly and Theft by Deception 1st Degree in addition to Forgery 3rd Degree.  She was also charged with Negotiating Worthless Negotiable Instruments.  Following that arrest she was released after posting bond of $70,939.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office official website Dupree was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center at 7:19 Wednesday night and was released at 7:51, after posting bond of $150,000.
