Work has just begun on resurfacing State Route (SR) 1/US 27/ Turner McCall Boulevard in Rome. The project includes 3.210 miles of on SR 1, beginning at the Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridge and extending to Veterans Memorial Parkway/SR 1 Loop.

“This project and others like it in northwest Georgia add up to these two things- better mobility and a better quality of life for all the area’s residents,” said Grant Waldrop, district engineer at the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville.

Work on the project will be performed at night Sunday through Friday, between 7p.m and 7a.m. Night lane closures will be required during resurfacing operations. There will be no construction work interfering with traffic on weekdays or weekends.

This resurfacing project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2018, at a construction cost of $1,935,699.
