Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) issued the following statement after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced that the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project will receive $85 million for fiscal year 2018:

“This is the moment we’ve been working toward for a long time. It’s a huge win for Georgia and the entire Southeast. These funds are essential to keeping the expansion project on schedule and represent a significant portion of the federal government’s share of the project. I want to thank the Trump administration for their commitment to this vital economic development project.”

The Savannah Harbor Expansion Project deepens the Savannah Harbor federal shipping channel from a depth of -42 feet to -47 feet. The extra depth will allow an additional 3,600 cargo containers in each transit.
