Kristi Lashun Mitchell, 46 of Rome, was jailed this week after police said she used the rod from window blinds to hit her 15 year-old son as form of punishment.
Police stated that the cut suffered a cut to his arm as a result of the beating.
Mitchell is charged with simple battery.
