Bartow County deputies arrested Anthony Lee Harris of Cartersville and booked him into the county jail this week  for aggravated assault by strangulation, battery against a female who is pregnant, and felony violation of probation.

These charges stem from an incident which allegedly occurred at his residence on Dogwood Place on April 12th in which he is accused of hitting his pregnant wife several times in the face and head and well as strangling her.

The victim drove herself to Cartersville Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Last Thursday afternoon at approximately 4:22, a Bartow County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to Cartersville Medical Center in reference to a domestic disturbance report.

The complainant stated she had been in a physical altercation with her husband, Anthony Harris, and during the altercation he hit her several times in the face and head. She stated she was also strangled by Anthony.

She stated she and Anthony live at different houses since the last incident where she was arrested. She is approximately six months pregnant. She stated she had gotten to Anthony’s residence on Dogwood Place in Cartersville from seeing a baby doctor. She sat in Anthony’s lap and was
talking to him. He became agitated and pushed her out of his lap. He began yelling and arguing with her about bothering him while he is watching television. She stated she told Anthony she was leaving and he became violent.

She stated Anthony kept stopping her from leaving his residence and at one point struck her several times in the face and head area. Anthony also strangled her with his hands. She stated when Anthony was not paying attention, she ran out of his residence and got into her vehicle. While she was attempting to leave, Anthony hit her several more times through her open window. She was able to leave and go to Cartersville Medical Center.

The deputy observed brushing and swelling all over her face. There were also red marks around her neck consistent with being choked.

Due to the evidence provided, warrants were taken for battery and aggravated assault against Anthony.
